Kate Lewis

Kate_withnameKate Lewis is an Ohio-based food, lifestyle and portrait photographer whose work brings her to sophisticated and vibrant cities like New York, LA, Montreal and beyond. Kate is also a sought after vegan food stylist and has worked on prominent projects with authors such as Chef Fran Costigam, Isa Chandra Moskowitz, Kathy Hester and Terry Hope Romero. With a passport in hand, she is ready to travel to wherever her skills are needed. Also, found in her repertoire are prop styling and art direction, which comes in handy when working with a small crew.

Her photography work is highly influenced by her extensive fine art training. Kate immersed herself in fashion merchandising and design at Bowling Green State University and then continued on at Youngstown State University to pursue fine art and art history. With her work-study programs at The Butler Art Institute and her certification for teaching art classes such as (PMC) Precious Metal Clay, she embarked on a creative path that has lasted more than a decade. After owning a small art gallery with hand picked local artists in her home town and offering creativity workshops to children and adults alike, she decided to concentrate more on her photography. She went and worked with Darren Mahuron as a stylist and studio assistant in Fort Collins, Colorado and became officially smitten with the medium.

After that, Kate then started traveling to places like NYC and LA for her head shot and portrait clients as well as shooting events at home. Of course her love of cooking, baking and documenting her food changed everything when she started shooting posts for her blog Le Chou Sauvage. From there, she started working with Chefs to document their food and websites, food events like the NYC Veg Food Fest and her print work soon followed.

Kate’s photography and styling has since been included in national news publications, lifestyle magazines and online websites such as Food & Wine,  One Green Planet, Girlie Girl Army, IEatGrass.com and multiple magazine articles and photo covers for VegNews Magazine. Her work has been published in cookbooks, ebooks and product branding pamphlets and most recently was a food photography/styling guest expert at Vida Vegan Con. Kate also provides cooking classes, photography workshops and consulting for private clients in her fully functioning studio.
